Set up staff access safely

Give each person enough access to do their work without sharing owner credentials or losing accountability.

Updated July 2026 · Open to everyone

1

Match access to responsibility

Cashiers need a smooth checkout flow, while supervisors may need broader access to reports and corrections. Start with the least access each role needs.

2

Create individual access

Individual staff access keeps the audit trail meaningful. It helps you understand who completed a sale or changed a record without relying on memory.

3

Brief the first shift

Show each person how to complete their normal workflow and when to ask for help.

  • Find or scan a product
  • Confirm quantity and price
  • Choose the correct payment method
  • Escalate a missing or incorrect product
4

Review access as roles change

Remove access when someone leaves and adjust permissions when responsibilities change. Do not leave old accounts active “just in case.”

Compazz tip
